Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-05-12

// placeholder

Placeholder copy — replace before public launch. Discord requires both a Terms of Service and a Privacy Policy URL during app verification.

These Terms govern your use of kesarAI, an AI-assisted Discord moderation bot. Please read them carefully before adding the Bot to a server you administer.

// 01

Acceptance of Terms

By inviting kesarAI (the “Bot”) to a Discord server or by interacting with any of its slash commands, you (“you” or the “server administrator”) acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms of Service (the “Terms”). If you do not agree, you must remove the Bot from your server and discontinue all use.

These Terms apply to every server the Bot is present in and to every end user who interacts with it. Server administrators are responsible for ensuring that members of their servers are aware of and abide by these Terms where applicable.

// 02

Description of Service

kesarAI is a Discord bot built on discord.py 2.3+ that provides moderation tooling, audit logging, configurable role and permission management, transcript generation, and AI-assisted features. AI capabilities are powered by Google Gemini and are surfaced through slash commands such as /ask, /think, /summarise, /fallacy, and /modadvice.

The Service is provided on an “as-is” basis. We may add, modify, or retire features at any time without prior notice, including changes to command surface, AI model selection, rate limits, or backing infrastructure.

// 03

User Conduct

You agree not to use the Bot to harass, abuse, impersonate, defraud, or harm any individual or group; to circumvent Discord’s own Terms of Service or Community Guidelines; or to generate, request, or distribute content that is illegal in your jurisdiction.

The AI-assisted commands have content safeguards but are not infallible. You are solely responsible for the prompts you submit and for any downstream use of the responses they produce. Repeated attempts to elicit prohibited content may result in the loss of AI permissions for your user or server.

Prohibited uses include, but are not limited to:

  • Using moderation tooling to retaliate against members in violation of your own server rules.
  • Attempting to exfiltrate bot configuration, audit logs, or stored permission state for servers you do not administer.
  • Spamming AI commands to deplete shared rate-limit budgets or to inflate API costs.

// 04

Bot Permissions & Data Access

When a server administrator invites the Bot, Discord grants it a set of permissions selected at invite time. The Bot requests the permissions it needs to operate — for example, reading message history to power /summarise or /fallacy, managing roles for permanent-role enforcement, and writing to configured logging channels.

You may revoke any granted permission at any time via Discord’s native role and channel settings. Removing required permissions may disable the corresponding feature, but will never escalate the Bot’s access elsewhere.

Configuration created by your server — channel mappings, moderation role grants, AI-points budget, log retention policies — is stored in our SQLite configuration database (config.db) keyed by your guild ID. Configuration is isolated per guild and is never shared between servers.

// 05

Limitations of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, kesarAI and its contributors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of, or inability to use, the Bot. This includes, without limitation, loss of data, loss of community members, loss of revenue, or moderation decisions made on the basis of AI-generated recommendations.

The Bot’s AI-assisted features are advisory only. A response from /modadvice is a suggestion, not an instruction. Human moderators retain full responsibility for any action taken in their servers.

// 06

Termination

You may terminate your use of the Bot at any time by removing it from your server. We may suspend or terminate Bot access for any server, with or without notice, where we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated, where continued operation poses a risk to the Service or its users, or where required by law.

Upon termination, configuration associated with your guild may be retained for a short grace period to support reinstatement, after which it is subject to the deletion practices described in the Privacy Policy.

// 07

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, for material changes, announce the update through the Bot’s official support server or release notes.

Your continued use of the Bot after a revision becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to a revision, you should remove the Bot from your server before it takes effect.

Contact

Questions about these Terms can be directed to the kesarAI support server, linked from the project’s docs. We aim to acknowledge legal inquiries within a reasonable timeframe.
